Lower prenatal vitamin D levels in mothers may be associated with an increased risk of dental caries in infants, reports a recent prospective cohort study from Canada. Nearly 23% of the 135 infants analyzed had early childhood caries. Mothers of infants with caries had lower prenatal 25OHD concentrations than mothers of caries–free children.
