High–quality information for physicians on prescribing antibiotics to kids is tough to find on the Web

High–quality information for physicians on prescribing antibiotics to kids is tough to find on the Web, new findings show. Dr. Francois Dubos of Hopital Roger Salengro in Lille, France, and his colleagues report in the Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, that while their initial Google search using the words “antibiotics, education, children” yielded nearly 10 million hits, they wound up identifying just 10 sites targeting health care professionals that provided information on antibiotic prescribing for children. And just two of these sites, one from the Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics (APUA) and the other from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), got the highest possible scores on quality criteria.
