A study from Charite University Medical Center Berlin concluded that transcutaneous bilirubin underestimates total serum bilirubin in the eight hours after phototherapy. After phototherapy, the levels of transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) fall more quickly than total serum bilirubin (TSB). The study findings are reported online October 20th in Pediatrics.
